Student Success Initiatives Grant for Faculty and Staff

The application is open from August 31st to April 15th. During the application period, applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

FACULTY AND STAFF STUDENT SUCCESS INITIATIVES (SSI) MINI GRANT PROGRAM
Funded by the San Jacinto College Foundation

The San Jacinto College Foundation (SJCF) has funding available for new, innovative projects, workshops, and activities that enhance learning opportunities for students while fostering the college’s commitment to student success. It’s encouraged to expand proposals across all campus!

The SSI program encourages full-time faculty and staff to propose new ideas, concepts, or projects. Grants are an initial investment for new ideas and projects, not a continued financial resource. To request technology or equipment, follow college processes, as SJCF funds do not circumvent college processes.

Eligibility
Full-time faculty and staff at San Jacinto College are eligible. If the SSI includes work outside of the normal operations of any hourly employee work schedule, adherence to the College compensation policy is required.

All applicants will need to complete the SSI Grant Approval form and the online application. All applications will be reviewed by a next-level leader, the Deans Council, and the Provost for recommendation to the Foundation. The Foundation Executive Director and Foundation Board of Directors are the final approval based on the amount of funds available.

Grant Guidelines

  1. Limit of one application per requestor per application cycle.
  2. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  3. Projects that have not previously received Foundation funding will be considered. Projects previously funded through the SSI grant should seek future departmental funding or other potential Foundation funding sources.
  4. Requests involving IT equipment and /or technology require approval from the San Jacinto College IT Department.
  5. If equipment for a program is requested, it must have already been requested through the College budgeting process and all costs for installation and facilities work must be included and approved.
  6. All grants must comply with San Jacinto College’s purchasing policy. Prohibited purchases includes, but is not limited to: gift cards, consultant and speaker fees, honorariums, donations to other entities, furniture, and more. Please view the complete list of prohibited purchases here:https://sjcdedu.sharepoint.com/sites/InternalPurchasing/SitePages/Purchasing-Resources.aspx
  7. Projects must be completed within one year from the day of award.

College Policies
All recipients are required to follow and adhere to all relevant College policies regarding their project. Failure to follow relevant College policies may result in the revocation of grant funds and ineligibility for future SSI Grants.

Deans Council Review
All proposals require review and approval by the Deans Council which serves as the instructional leadership advisory team for the College’s Strategic Leadership Team (SLT.) The Deans Council will review applications to ensure adherence to guidelines and for appropriate fit with the College’s Vision, Mission, Strategic Plan, and Annual Priorities. Approval must be secured prior to the approval of any SSI Grant applications. Applicants will work with their appropriate leader and Dean to bring their proposals forward to the Deans Council. Make sure to plan appropriately, allowing time for review and approval. The Deans Council meets monthly.
